Ben Thanh Market (Ho Chi Minh City) is visited by many tourists, but the overcharging makes tourists are reluctant to even buy. I often go there to buy and bargain, though I am not sure things I bought were at the right prices, but I am confident to share my bargain experience with you. Buy fashion items like shoes and clothes are most easily overcharged. For example, the seller will say the price of the item is 85k VND or 95k VND and if you buy, they can only reduce 5k VND. They give you the feeling of buying a discounted item but not at all. At times like this, I don't let myself be fooled. Instead of being told you are a fool, I act as if I don't know the value of the item, I will boldly bargain the price down to 15k VND for example. We often have a habit of paying prices so that the amount is rounded. It doesn't have to be that way. If they scream 85k VND, pay down 15k VND, for example. After many purchases, I have experience. When bargaining in the Ben Thanh market, you must be bold and confident and when you need to bargain, you should bargain the price until the end. And always start at the lowest price, for example from 1/5 of the original price. Look at the attitude of the seller: if you just did the bargaining and the seller smiled and said ok then it means you've been cheated. Don't bear to be fooled like that, while paying for money, pretend to forget your wallet and go, don't buy an item with a price that's too high for its real value. Go shopping into a group of at least 2 people and 2 people bargain the same item, this is the way to overwhelm the mind of the seller. If I go alone, I'm a bit shy, dare not to bargain too much. And when you go shopping alone, you will be more tempted, no one will advise or stop you, oh well, women easily lose the ability to control themselves when facing attractive fashion items. Keep a resolute & confident attitude, if not then leave. If they want to sell they will call us again, this method I find many people use and very effective. I have applied and you should do the same. If you are just standing and looking at the item, the seller knows you like it then they will raise the price or keep it unchanged even though you try to bargain again and again. In this case, don't waste your time, just leave! You cannot win in this situation because the seller already knew you like that item very much! Although you like it very much and want to buy it immediately, you need to show the seller that you don't like it. I will pretend to pay attention to other items first, then also ask for the item I liked, then pretend to compare and show the seller that I dislike it because of some defects to bargain for a lower price. However, you should not do that too much, the seller may get angry and chase you away then you are done! Another experience that I call swirling into the psychology of the shopkeeper. I looked at the sellers' face, if I found them a bit serious, I would use some persuasive words, such as: "I bought it here a few times, we know each other so much, please don't try to overcharge me again, this time please sell me this at the right price", Or "They are selling this much cheaper over there, why yours is very expensive?" Or "Last time I asked it was cheaper!", Or "The day before I and my friends went here and bought from you a lot, why don't today you sell me a little cheaper or give me a discount?"
